Things to consider when it comes to your child’s health.

Nothing prepares you for being a parent.

It’s tough work — not only do you have to figure out what’s best for your child to lead a happy and successful life, but you’re also constantly worried about their health and wellbeing.

Children are, after all, more susceptible to harmful environments1. There may even be dangers to your child that you can’t see.

To minimise such risks to your child’s health, you can start with insulating your home.

Four ways insulation creates a healthy environment for children

  1. Peace and quiet: Insulation can protect children from the negative effects of loud, unwanted noise.
  2. Prevents smoke: Stone wool insulation is non-combustible and does not produce smoke in the event of a fire.
  3. Prevents mould: Stone wool insulation is naturally resistant to mould and bacterial growth.
  4. Eliminates thermal bridges: Stone wool helps prevent thermal bridges responsible for flu and respiratory diseases

It may come as a surprise, but noise poses one of the most serious health hazards for children.

In fact, learning disabilities and physical complications are just some of the consequences that noise pollution has on children2. Furthermore, kids from noisy homes often have a heart rate that is significantly higher than those from quieter ones3.

This is where insulation comes in. It can protect your child from unwanted noise — allowing them to play and explore at home, at a comfortable sound level. High density stone wool, in particular, are highly efficient at reducing noise and absorbing sound.

There are other benefits to insulating your home as well. For example, stone wool is non-combustible, and does not promote smoke in the event of a fire. This mitigates the risk of choking on fumes, which account for the majority of fire-related deaths and health complications4.

What’s more, stone wool insulation allows moisture to pass through walls and out of the house. This protects homes against rot, humidity damage, and mould.

As their bodies are still developing, children are particularly susceptible to the dangerous health effects of mould. Exposure to damp homes, or homes with mould growth, could result in respiratory problems or weakened immune systems5.

Since young children can spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors, creating a wholesome home environment is essential to their wellbeing. Insulation helps you avoid health risks to your child, so that raising them is a little more worry-free.
