Different types of insulation material are used to fill clay bricks in order to increase their thermal efficiency and reduce noise.

At ROCKWOOL Core Solutions, we offer stone wool insulation in terms of slabs or granulates, meeting the specifications and technical design solutions that manufacturers work with. We consider the collaboration with the manufacturer a partnership where we customise, tailor and advise stone wool insulation. 

Because of its dimensional stability, ROCKWOOL’s stone wool performance remains the same decade after decade, allowing for maintenance savings throughout the life of the building. Furthermore, ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation is non-combustible (fire classification rating A1), adding to the safety properties.

Thermal conductivity as a key asset

The thermal conductivity of ROCKWOOL stone wool is less than 0.035 W/(m*K), which significantly increases the U-value of a brick wall. This results in a more energy efficient and economically sound living space for inhabitants, and a stronger investment.

Breaking down the numbers, through the thinner brickwork made possible because of ROCKWOOL Core Solutions’ insulation, 5 square metres of living space can be added – that is 36.5 cm instead of 49 cm of wall space. A significant improvement compared to other solutions.

Our approach to sustainability

As a company, we are conscious of the low carbon movement. For instance, our new electric melting technology will reduce direct CO2 emissions by 80 percent and production-related waste going to landfill by 95 percent, compared to the conventional melting technology it will replace. Plus, the great thermal and sound properties of stone wool impact energy efficiency directly. 

Finally, stone wool has a key benefit that elevates it significantly from other insulation types: It can be indefinitely recycled. This makes the stone wool in our insulated bricks entirely circular - and in this way, you can be part of our vision for a more sustainable future.
