Our high-tech production process uses filters, pre-heaters, after-burners and other cleaning and collection systems to ensure an environmentally responsible approach. Our approach is supported by a number of external environmental accreditations.
Our products already make a positive impact but we also have ambitious sustainability goals to reduce our operational footprint.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are based on life cycle assessment, meaning that the environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a product’s life are considered – ranging from raw material extraction, through to the manufacture of the product, as well as its transportation and end of life disposal. This presents a more complete picture of the environmental performance of a product.
EPDs allow the communication and aggregation of environmental data for use in Building Sustainability Assessments.
ROCKWOOL Group has invested in EPD expertise and we have developed an EN 15804 compliant model and methodology which has been third party verified. We are rolling out EPDs across the countries in which we operate. ROCKWOOL UK underwent the assessment process in 2015 and again in 2020, with our latest EPD being published in March 2021. Our new EPD indicated that by 2020, the embodied carbon across our product lifecycle had fallen by over 24% relative to 2015. This fall was driven by improved process efficiency, new combustion technologies and a move to 100% renewable electricity in our operations.
Please contact technical.solutions@rockwool.com to request a copy of our EPD for your project.
Note: Because the underlying datasets and depth of information included differs from company to company, EPDs cannot yet be used to draw comparisons between products.
Our experts continually review and update our articles when legislation changes or new information becomes available.
