Switchover from SP Firestop to SP Firestop EN

We would like to provide an important update on the future availability of FirePro® SP FireStop, that will assist with planning for ongoing projects and specifications.

At ROCKWOOL, we continually test and develop our products to ensure they meet the latest and most stringent standards. A particular example of this is fire testing, where we have taken the decision that where possible, ongoing testing will only be to the latest EN standards. As a result, our suite of supporting data to BS standards will gradually be removed over the next few years and be replaced by EN reports and classification documents.

The next product in our range to be covered by this transition will be SP FireStop. 

We have already introduced a replacement product, SP FireStop EN, which has been in the market since April 2023 and is tested to the relevant EN test standards.

As a result, we have decided not to renew our third-party certification relating to SP FireStop, when it expires on the 18th November 2024. SP FireStop will no longer be available from this date.

To ensure use of the most appropriate product, and continued supply, we advise that project specifications are switched to SP Firestop EN at the earliest opportunity.

In the vast majority of foreseeable cases it will be possible to switch directly from SP Firestop to SP Firestop EN with no other design changes. If further guidance is required please contact your local ROCKWOOL Specification Team representative.
