Globally, ROCKWOOL has approximately 12,000 dedicated colleagues in 40 countries and sales in more than 120 countries. ROCKWOOL has a growing presence in North America with 4 stone wool manufacturing facilities and 4 brands across the region, ROCKWOOL, ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation, Grodan and Rockfon.
Today, ROCKWOOL has the largest stone wool production footprint in North America. In 1998, ROCKWOOL acquired its first North American factory in Milton ON. In 1999, the Grand Forks BC factory was acquired. In 2009, the Milton factory expanded and introduced the Grodan production line.
In 2013, ROCKWOOL acquired the Chicago Metallic facility in Chicago, IL, where Rockfon metal grid is produced. The first U.S. factory was built and went live in 2014 in Byhalia, MS, with two production lines manufacturing stone wool insulation and Rockfon tiles. In 2021, our newest North America factory began producing stone wool insulation in Ranson, WV.
